““Parental studies were normal, so these duplications are thought to be de novo.”
‘De novo’ describes something new.
Something that was not previously present.
Something just beginning. Start from the beginning.”
SMALLER is an extremely personal solo performance from theatre maker David Williams about biology and destiny.
Accidents, choices and serendipitous moments across three generations. Tiny moments with enormous reverberations. Things with knowable histories. Things deemed ‘de novo’: “From nowhere”.
SMALLER is storytelling theatre that interweaves family history, overlapping migration stories, genetic science, the history of DNA, and the experience of parenting a child with an invisible disability in a time of great uncertainty.
It’s a show about big things that are too small to be seen.
